Introduction : whichwearable.co.uk has lent Vicci the Sixpad device to use. Ronaldo markets the product but also co-developed it. Her feedback is below. Vicci looks after herself, exercises regularly and likes new exercise technology.

I was extremely excited at the prospect of testing the Ab muscle trainer belt (or the “Ronaldo” as I like to call it).  I had been toying with the idea of buying one but couldn’t quite justify the price at the time (which I am sure was nearer £200 at the time (whichwearable comment Sixpad Abs unit only costs £149.99), so I bought a cheaper alternative (£40) …which is just sitting in my cupboard as very bulky!

First impressions, small and came in a smart orange A4 folder.  Extremely thin and compact and looks very impressive – was expecting something bulkier but I had seen the adverts so don’t know why I thought that.  Really good and comprehensive instruction guide which I did read all sections as was suggested – at the same time it highlights lots (and lots!) of when you shouldn’t use it through health reasons.

Batteries supplied and came with gels for the pads which once again gave you instructions however with the gels, I wasn’t entirely sure which way to take the paper off the gels and stick them on the belt itself – perhaps some harder perforated lines could help aid this?

Now time to use, again as instructions advised, was to hold the +Plus button down and listen to the beep.  This was extremely low and virtually inaudible sound and if there was any background noise like music or TV or just an 8 year old running around, it would be undetectable.   Also, I did find on my that the appliance itself  didn’t entirely sit and stick and stay on me if I was walking around – a belt was supplied but I didn’t use it and opted for lying on the bed position and catching up on emails – which worked for me!

There are 8 settings and again as advised in the guidebook to work through them gradually; with the workout being 20 minutes per day (this is a timed session on the trainer)  (whichwearable comment, the cycle is 23 minutes) – again listening for a beep with no noise around.  The first couple of settings were really low intensity and I moved up the levels relatively quickly and perhaps on the first couple of occasions too quick but that was once again as I couldn’t hear the beeps moving up levels so the intensity was quite severe pulses on the stomach without knowing what setting I was on.

I have been using the Ronaldo for a few weeks, not everyday I hasten to add; but in conjunction with careful eating and exercise as I doubt this tiny machine could perform miracles and turn my 1 pack into a 6 pack like Ronaldo’s – I have definitely noticed a difference and the muscle definition has changed.  My husband and son have noticed too.  Win, win!

Gels do need to be purchased and they say they last a month – not sure entirely true as I looked after them – didn’t get cream or oil over them, and put straight back onto the cardboard when finished – I haven’t looked into the cost of those yet.

I can see that they have dropped in price so I would definitely look at buying one now to keep and use and not collect dust!
